Strengthen Your Defenses: Empowering Your Immune System for Winter Protection and Optimal Health

Last winter in Europe was particularly difficult with the flu and so when temperatures start turning colder and we’re inside and interacting with each other in greater numbers, we need the best defense we can get.

Our immune system is our mode of defense against intruders from the outside world. The immune system is able to differentiate between the body’s own cells and foreign antigens. This includes viruses, bacteria, fungi, foreign tissue, and toxins.

White blood cells recognise antigens and try to eliminate them. As we interact with our environment, the immune system becomes better and better at recognising these antigens and keeping us healthy.

As we saw with COVID for the last few years, those with strong immune defenses fared the best. Key nutrients like zinc, vitamin C, Vitamin B12 and folate are key. Do your genes make you more susceptible? Do you make folate? Do you utilise it?

What can we do to prepare ourselves for the cold and flu season?

  1. Wash your hands: Frequent hand washing with soap and water can help prevent the spread of viruses.
  2. Practice good hygiene: Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and dispose of the tissue immediately. Avoid touching your face and avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  3. Stay warm: Dress in layers and keep your home warm to prevent your body from losing heat.
  4. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids to help flush out toxins and keep your body hydrated.
  5. Get plenty of rest: Getting enough sleep helps your body fight off infections.
  6. Eat a healthy diet: A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help keep your immune system strong.
  7. Support your immune system with key nutrients and prevention herbs.

You cannot treat viruses with antibiotics and this is where natural medicine plays its part. Herbs and nutrients provide the best protection to viruses and to support immune function.

We have created our key protection products for you this season:

  1. Herbal viral protection featuring astragalus, elderberry and other immune supporting ingredients
  2. Zinc and vitamin C Powder containing vitamins and minerals to reduce mild upper respiratory tract infections, including colds and flus.

Should you get sick this year we have your back:

  1. Herbal Cold & Flu protection mix
  2. Zinc and Vitamin C
  3. Design your own cough mix here. There is no better protection for coughs than herbal medicine. We have developed a questionnaire to help you design your own to suit your symptoms here.

Understand how herbs and nutrients can support your immune system.
