Dr Carolyn Ledowsky, PhD

Dr Carolyn Ledowsky, PhD is a naturopath, herbalist, nutritionist and clinical researcher with more than 15 years of experience in women’s health, fertility, and complex chronic disease. She is the Founder of MTHFR Support Australia, a specialist clinical practice focused on methylation, folate metabolism, genetic susceptibility, and personalised nutritional and herbal interventions.
Dr Carolyn has completed her PhD in Public Health at the University of Technology Sydney. Her doctoral
research examined the effectiveness of 5 methyltetrahydrofolate (5 MTHF) compared with folic acid in couples with recurrent pregnancy loss, contributing new insight into folate metabolism, MTHFR polymorphisms, and reproductive outcomes. Her research interests span folate metabolism, infertility, miscarriage, methylation biochemistry, and the clinical application of nutritional and herbal medicine.
She has published in leading journals including Nutrition Research, Reproductive Biomedicine Online,
Nutrients, Exploratory Research in Clinical & Social Pharmacy, Advances in Integrative Medicine, and the Australian Journal of Herbal & Naturopathic Medicine. Dr Carolyn has presented internationally across Europe, the UK, and Australia, sharing her findings at conferences in France, Belgium, Switzerland, London, and nationally across Australia.
Dr Carolyn is also an active contributor to her profession. She has served as a Board Member of the
Naturopaths & Herbalists Association of Australia (NHAA) and is a member of the Fertility Society of Australia, Public Health Association of Australia, European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), and the Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand (PSANZ). She has represented Higher Degree Research students on the UTS Faculty Health Research Committee and has delivered regular educational presentations to clinicians on genetics, methylation, fertility, and chronic disease.
With her completed doctoral work, strong clinical expertise, and committed focus on bridging natural medicine and research, Dr Carolyn brings a valuable wealth of knowledge to all her presentations. She is currently a Research Fellow at Southern Cross University in the National Centre for Naturopathic Medicine in the Faculty of Health.
