Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1 4G/5G and the MTHFR 677C/T Polymorphisms and Susceptibility to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: a meta-analysis.

Lee & Song (2014) conducted a meta-analysis to explore whether plasminogen activator inhibitors-1 (PAI-1) 4G/5G and MTHFR C677T polymorphisms are associated with susceptibility to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). 9 studies examining PAI-1 with 2384 total subject were employed for analysis, along with 8 studies with 1270 total subjects for MTHFR C677T. Meta-analysis of the results showed no correlation between PCOS and PAI-1 allele overall, with specific associations found between Turkish and Asian populations found. Overall, no study subjects showed an association between PCOS and the C677T allele.
