Exposure to environmental phenols and parabens affects folate in 3-19 years olds

This study of 4395 children and adolsecents found that exposure to phenols and parabens (endocrine disrupting chemicals) had an impact on folate levels in serum and red blood cells.

If RBC folate was optimal bisphenol A, Triclosan, methyl paraben, propyl paraben was better excreted in the urine. And a decrease in both RBC and serum folate levels caused an increase in phenols and parabens. Plus the high levels of these compounds caused a decrease in in folate.
