New Research of 378,082 people suggests that low serum Vitamin D status is associated with the risk of venous thromboembolism. The VDR gene polymorphisms were measured for each of the participants as this affects levels of Vitamin D. The association was increased amongst people with diabetes regardless of genetic risks for venous thromboembolism.
